Prof. Dr. Deepak N. Bhatia

Prof. Dr. Deepak N. Bhatia is a shoulder and upper limb surgeon and a sports medicine specialist. Trained at leading institutions in Belgium, South Africa and Australia, he has special expertise in sports injuries and arthroscopy of shoulder, elbow & hand. He is regularly consulted by athletes from all over the country and has performed surgeries on several national and international athletes including Olympians and Commonwealth / Asian games medalists. He is a founding member of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of India, and is the past Chairman of the Elbow, Wrist and Hand committee of ISAKOS.

Dr Deepak Bhatia has developed original surgical techniques for various shoulder and elbow problems and has been twice awarded the prestigious Gary G. Poehling Award for pioneering research in elbow endoscopy. He has more than 100 international publications in leading scientic journals and is the chief editor and author of the internationally acclaimed ISAKOS / Springer book “Arthroscopy and Endoscopy of Elbow, Wrist, and Hand: Surgical anatomy and techniques. Dr Bhatia is an associate editor of the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery-JSES International) and has lectured and performed live surgeries at national and international shoulder conferences.
